Sour Cherry Almond Milk Sorbet

No story here. Just another photo taken in my parents’ kitchen, and the perfect way to finish off the last sour cherries of the year. The first thing to hit your tongue here is the sour!, and then mostly smooth almond, until a lingering aftertaste of pure, tart cherry sweeps in.

Sour Cherry Almond Milk Sorbet
2 C almond milk
2 C sour cherries (pitted)
1/2 C sugar
2 large splashes of amaretto

Puree all ingredients together, chill, and make as you normally would a sorbet.

Mmm. And I don’t normally like cherries very much.

PS: What color walls do your parents have in the kitchen?

  2. Danielle says:

Yellow. But when I lower the blue, the sorbet looks wrong. It’s terrible lighting in there, so I have trouble taking decent photos – here, the sorbet looks about right, but the walls look too green.

hmm what an interesting combination of flavours.
Where do you get almond milk from?

  4. Danielle says:

jenjen – You can buy almond milk from many health food supermarkets and co-ops (original unsweetened, is what I use), or you can make it by steeping ground blanched almonds in boiling water and then either straining or pureeing them.

    I can taste it. Delicious!

  6. bonnie says:

this goes fabulously well with apple crumble.

  7. Danielle says:

    Ivonne – Thanks!

bonnie – You made it already? That is the most exciting sort of comment to get here. Just knowing that you actually tried out something I posted is really wonderful. Thank you!
