Jam Swap Reminder and Teaching/Catering Announcement

REMINDER: If you want to be involved in the Homemade Jams, Jellies, Curds, Chutneys, &c. Circle Swap, you have to let me know what country you are in, what you have available to swap, whether you are willing to ship internationally, and how many people you would like to swap with (ideally) by August 1, 2006. Check out the original swap post for more details.

In other news, I may be teaching cooking classes at East Midwood Jewish Center in Brooklyn, NY starting in September. The schedule is not set yet, but I will post details as they develop. Although it is a kosher kitchen, you do not have to keep kosher or even be Jewish in order to participate!

Classes will be small, because I think it is very important that they be hands-on. Since Dave and I will be teaching on a purely volunteer basis, the cost of the classes is likely to be relatively low, as it need only cover equipment, materials, and other such costs.

We have also been discussing teaching private cooking classes, either in our home or the homes of our students. If you live in or are visiting the NYC area and want to discuss this, just drop me a line.

Also, considering how well our last catering gig went, we are interested in catering more events as well. However, given that this is a hobby for us, we won’t bother catering for anyone who insists on having too much control over the menu. We require the freedom to play.

This has been a brief service announcement. I will return to posting recipes shortly.
