Hi there, what an original idea using gunpowder tea in a chutney. I love making preserves also. Your blog is great, btw. But I guess I didn't have to say that, right? ;P

I too understand the joy in making your own preserves,
jams, chutneys and pickles.
It's is so cheering to see your own jars all filled and lined
up in the storecupboard.
I'd love to make this, it looks so delicious!!

Ivonne - That's awful, not being able to get the TeaChef tea. Maybe you should ask, just in case?

I wonder where that overwhelming urge to preserve comes from. I mean, in part it's just that I think my jams are tastier than most I can buy, but it's also just so viscerally satisfying!

Tania - Thanks! You're absolutely right about family memories and food. To this day, I still associate Farina with being home sick from school, even. And sometimes I think the names of spices do more for me than the spices themselves do.

Beautiful chutney, Danielle! Just reading through the list of spices was intoxicating -- I could almost smell them.

I love your grape jam story, too. Amazing how many wonderful family memories are bound to food and the traditions around preparing it. Thanks for sharing!

Wow, Danielle. That looks gorgeous!

I identify with your need to preserve. I find it gets worse as I get older. I just want to jar everything. Everything!

I'd heard about TeaChef and their offer but unfortunately I don't think they ship to Canada. I'll have to live vicariously through you. Hope you don't mind!
